Assault reported in the 4000 block of Walnut Street

Penn Police responded to a report of assaults in the 4000 block of Walnut Street. The suspect struck two individuals and fled the area. The suspect is described as a juvenile male wearing all dark clothing.

The suspect was with a large group of juveniles traveling in the area of 40th and Walnut Streets. The area is now clear.

Penn and Philadelphia Police and Allied Security continue to patrol the area.

  • Keep your valuables out of sight.
  • Be respectful of those involved in the incident.

PennReady Event: Protecting Communities Through Resilience and Relationships

You are invited! Join us on Friday, September 27th as Public Safety provides a day of activities on safety, preparedness, and community risk reduction along with our many campus partners!

The PennReady event will begin with a Speaker Series on Community Risk Reduction (CCR) from 10am-11:30am, followed by a Health and Safety Fair from 11:30am-2:30pm. The Safety Fair will include a test of the UPennAlert emergency notification system at 11:30am, followed by a special side-by-side burn demonstration at 12:30pm which will show the speed and power of a residential fire, along with the impact of fire sprinklers.

First responders will be on site to share education on CPR and stop-the-bleed first aid, free food and giveaways, as well as many  partners on hand to share safety and wellness information with the community. Participants and supporters include the Penn Vet Working Dog Center, Penn Dining, MERT, Penn’s Office of Risk Management, the Philadelphia Fire Department, The National Fire Sprinkler Association, and many, many more!
