Fall Fest Torch Run 2015 for the Special Olympics

Members of DPS participated in the Annual Fall Festival Torch Run for the Special Olympics Pennsylvania, held on Friday, November 6th. The Torch Run is a 13-mile non-competitive run from the Philadelphia Art Museum to Villanova University benefiting Special Olympics Pennsylvania (SOPA). The Run celebrates the start of the Special Olympics Pennsylvania’s Fall Games at Villanova University. Members of the Philadelphia Police Department, SOPA athletes, dignitaries and members of law enforcement from across the region participate in this annual fundraising event, which benefits Special Olympics Pennsylvania. The organization assists nearly 20,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities who experience life-changing benefits due to the  organization’s year-round training and competition programs, all at no cost to themselves or their families.

The Fall Festival Torch Run also serves as a run in memory of fallen officers from across the state, and ends with the lighting of the Flame of Hope during Opening Ceremonies at Villanova on Friday evening in The Pavilion.
